Echion formalises joint development agreement with GUS Technology
Echion has furthered its existing partnership with pioneering Taiwanese battery system and cell manufacturer, GUS Technology with the signing of a joint development agreement (JDA).
The JDA is an expansion of the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two companies, which secured availability of Echion’s niobium-based XNO® anode material for GUS Technology. The agreement outlines the companies’ joint technical, production and commercial efforts to accelerate the commercialisation of high performance, fast charging, long lasting batteries for heavy-duty applications powered by Echion’s XNO® active anode material.
Jean de La Verpilliere, Chief Executive Officer at Echion, welcomed the signing of the JDA, commenting: “We are delighted to take this next step in our partnership with GUS Technology. Since the signing of our MoU, the GUS and Echion teams have developed a great working relationship which make me confident on achieving the targeted outcomes of the JDA. I look forward to being able to provide original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and end users with a cell that has been specifically engineered for high performance in heavy-duty environments.”
Dr. C.C. Chang, Chairman of GUS Technology, said: “We are pleased to have formalised the signing of the JDA with our partners at Echion Technologies. In the time that we have been working together, it has become clear that XNO® will have significant benefits for OEMs. By formalising our partnership with Echion we are fulfilling our commitment to providing our customers with best in class, innovative solutions to mass electrification, and I look forward to continuing to work together with Echion to transform the heavy-duty electric vehicle market.”
Echion’s niobium-based XNO® anode material uniquely unlocks capabilities in lithium-ion batteries that can safely fast charge in less than 10 minutes, maintain high performance in extreme conditions and deliver high power over a cycle life of more than 10,000 cycles when used in heavy-duty applications.
